Getting to and from Pyongyang Sunan Airport (FNJ)
Pyongyang Sunan International Airport is located 18.5 km north of the city centre. The most reliable way to arrange ground transport is through your licensed tour operator, who will typically coordinate airport transfers as part of your itinerary. Transfer options
Pre-booked private transfers are the recommended option for travel to and from FNJ. The journey to central Pyongyang takes approximately 30–40 minutes depending on traffic. Taxis are available at the terminal but rates are fixed and drivers typically do not speak English — your tour guide will handle this if travelling with a group.
Important notes
All travel to North Korea requires a valid visa and approved itinerary through a licensed tour operator. Independent travel is not permitted. Transfer arrangements must be coordinated with your operator or booked in advance. Cash (USD or CNY) is the only accepted payment method in the DPRK.
