About Air Koryo
Air Koryo (IATA: JS, ICAO: KOR) is the national carrier of North Korea, operating all international flights to and from Pyongyang Sunan International Airport (FNJ/ZKPY). The airline was founded in 1950 and operates a fleet of Soviet-era and Russian aircraft including the Tupolev Tu-204 and Ilyushin Il-76. Air Koryo is the only airline permitted to fly into the DPRK on scheduled international routes.
How to Book
Flights to North Korea cannot be booked directly by tourists through standard booking platforms. All international visitors must travel as part of an approved tour group through a licensed operator. Your tour operator will arrange the Air Koryo ticket as part of the overall tour package. Tickets are priced in USD and paid in cash or bank transfer — international credit cards are not accepted.
Visa Requirements
A valid DPRK visa is required for all international visitors. Visa approval typically takes 4–6 weeks and must be arranged through your licensed tour operator before purchasing tickets. South Korean passport holders and journalists may face additional restrictions or outright denial of entry.
